Happy Monday!
Well, another month has come and gone and once again I’m shocked at how fast it went by. I never expected time to move so fast after we had children, but the last five months have flown by! And now it’s time for another monthly update on the girls! If you missed their previous updates, you can read them here:

And without further ado, here is a recap of Meredith and Natalie’s fifth month of life!
Meredith
Weight/Length: We aren’t sure how long she is since we don’t have a pediatrician appointment this month, but we think she’s around 14 pounds.
Clothing Size: Still in 3-6 month clothes, but not for long! She will be in 6 month clothing very soon I think.
Likes: She loves sticking her tongue out! It’s so funny. And actually, at a lot of my pregnancy ultrasounds, she had her tongue out too. How funny! Meredith also loves mirrors!
Dislikes: Still not a fan of diaper changes.
Milestones: She has started squealing this month and I think she’ll be giggling soon!
Natalie
Weight/Length: We aren’t sure how long she is since we don’t have a pediatrician appointment this month, but we think she weighs around 16 pounds.
Clothing Size: Natalie is also in 3-6 month clothes, but barely. She’ll be in six month clothing within the next few weeks.
Likes: She loves bath time! She splashes and makes a big mess and it’s so cute.
Dislikes: Not a huge fan of diaper changes.
Milestones: She is almost giggling! So close!
Both Girls
Sleep: Well, the girls were sleeping great for the first part of this month. We dropped their 10pm dream feed and that went really well. On a typical night they were sleeping from 7/7:30pm to 6:30/7am. There were a few wake-ups in the night when someone needed a pacifier or a little soothing, but overall they were sleeping really well!
And within the last week or so, things have changed. The four month sleep regression is hitting. The girls are technically five months old, but since they were born early, their adjusted age is four months, so it makes sense we are hitting the sleep regression now. They have started fighting naps and waking up frequently in the night. Chris and I are trying to figure out what will be the best way to teach the girls how to self soothe (aka sleep training) and I’ll report back on that next month
Eating: They are eating between 6 and 7 ounces at each feeding. Our pediatrician talked to us at their last appointment about when we want to start solids and it’s hard to believe it’s already time to start thinking about that. Chris and I agree the girls aren’t ready yet, but we’re headed in that direction!
Schedule: Our schedule is pretty much the same as it was a few months ago when I talked about it in THIS post. The only difference is we have dropped all night feedings, woo hoo!
Mom and Dad: Chris and I are doing well! Every day is a new adventure in parenting but having a routine helps so much! We dedicate our days to work or family time (depending on the day of the week) and in the evenings we get time as a couple, which is so nice. We are really enjoying life and being parents!
As far as me specifically, I am doing really well! I am feeling more and more like myself each month and that is a welcome change. Postpartum is hard! Way harder than I expected. I am continuing to work out and be active, although some days my body reminds me I had a major surgery and I need to take it easy or modify my work outs. Which I do. But most days I am able to do a 20-30 minute workout in the morning before the babies wake up and that always starts my day off on the right foot. Other than that, I am continuing to try and find the balance of being a working mom and I think that will always be a work in progress. I love my girls so much and I am so thankful to be their mom!
And now for some more pictures of the babies…
I know I’ve said this in every monthly update, but I am just so thankful for these babies. It was a long, hard road to get to them and I don’t take that for granted. Chris and I love being their parents and each month we are in awe of how much they are growing and developing. I can’t wait to see what month six has in store for all of us!
