Hello and Happy Friday!
I can’t believe our girls are already one month old! How did that happen? This was the fastest month of my life and I have had no concept of time since the girls were born. The days have flown by and Chris and I have said to each other on multiple occasions “How is it already the end of the day?” For my own memories, I want to document each month of the girls’ first year of life. I thought about various ways to do this, but I eventually decided to purchase a milestone blanket so we can easily see how they are growing and changing month to month. I am also planning to answer the same (or similar) questions each month in a blog post. So, today is Meredith and Natalie’s one month update!
Meredith
Weight/Length: She weighs 6 pounds, 12 ounces and is 18.9 inches long.
Clothing Size: Newborn. She has slowly but surely grown into Newborn clothes and we no longer have to roll up the sleeves on her onesies.
Likes: Sleeping (except at 3am) and cuddling with mommy and daddy.
Dislikes: Diaper changes. Not too sure about bath time either.
Milestones: Her umbilical cord fell off on April 27th. She is also lifting her head and learning neck control through daily tummy time.
Natalie
Weight/Length: She weights 7 pounds, 12 ounces and is 20.1 inches long.
Clothing Size: In between Newborn and 0-3 Months. Newborn onesies are getting too small but 3 month clothes are too big.
Likes: Being held and being worn in a baby carrier.
Dislikes: Not being held and diaper changes. Still learning to love bath time.
Milestones: Her umbilical cord fell off of on May 2nd. She is lifting her head and learning neck control like her sister.
Both Girls
Sleep: They are sleeping pretty well for newborns. They sleep a lot during the day and sleep decently at night. There is definitely a witching hour at 3am and one baby (or both babies) don’t like to go back to bed after the 3 o’clock feeding. They still seem to have their days and nights mixed up, but we are working on that. We are hoping to get into some kind of a sleep/nap routine over the next few months and bought the Taking Cara Babies newborn bundle to help us with that. I will be sure to post an update on how it goes later down the road.
Eating: The girls are 90% formula fed right now. If the day comes I can talk/write about this in detail without crying, I will share how my experience with breastfeeding/pumping has gone. But for now, I will say that it’s been hard and not what I hoped for. I know the important thing is that they are fed and I am trying my best to focus on that. We have been feeding them every 3 hours this first month in order to help them gain weight. We just got the ok at their pediatrician appointment this week to let them go longer stretches between feedings. They are growing girls and eating well!
Mom and Dad: We are doing great! We are definitely sleep deprived these days, but it’s been a total labor of love. Every day Chris and I comment to each other how much we love our girls, how cute they are, and how lucky we are. I am recovering well from my c-section and overall feeling really good. I am looking forward to my next doctor’s appointment and (hopefully) being cleared for normal activity.
Here are a few pictures from this month:
I seriously can’t believe Meredith and Natalie are one month old. I feel like they have already changed so much since they were born. Time is going too fast! On one hand, I want time to slow down, but on the other hand I can’t wait to see what milestones the girls reach in their second month of life. Being their mom is the biggest blessing of my life. I am so thankful.
I’ll be back next month with another monthly update. Until then, stay tuned for your regularly scheduled blog posts!
