Happy Tuesday!
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on my blog, but I’m back! Life has been a little crazy since the girls were born but we’ve settled into our new normal and I have more time to dedicate to my blog. I’ll explain in a future post what kind of content you can expect from me moving forward, but I’m very happy to be back to blogging!
Now that Labor Day has come and gone, is it Fall yet? Isn’t that supposed to be a sign that Fall is just around the corner? I am typically not someone who decorates for seasons or holidays, except Christmas. But since we are spending so much time around the house due to COVID-19, I decided I would like to decorate our home for Fall this year. I thought it would be nice to change the scenery up a little bit. Besides, I’m an adult now (when did that happen?) and don’t adults decorate their houses for the season?
If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that finances are very important to me and I always create and stick to a budget. Decorating for Fall is no exception! I literally have no Fall decorations except for a fall wreath I made years ago which you can read about HERE. I have a few leftover fake flowers from that project that I planned to sprinkle throughout the house, but I was basically starting with no Fall decor to speak of. My strategy is to buy a few Fall decor items each year and build that up over time. This year I made three stops, spent about $75 total, and added a touch of Fall to our home that I’m very happy with! To find out where I went and what I got, just keep reading!
My first stop was the Dollar Tree. I went there specifically looking for pumpkins to fill up a glass jar that had previously been our guest bathroom. It was filled with travel size toiletry items for whenever we have guests. But as the girls get older, that bathroom is becoming more of a kids bathroom and I didn’t think it would be smart to have a large glass jar in there. So it has now been repurposed into a centerpiece for our dining room table and I plan to put seasonal items in it. For Fall, I decided multi-colored pumpkins from the Dollar Tree would look cute!
I got the Hello Fall sign at the Dollar Tree as well.
Total Spent at Dollar Tree: $11.91
My next stop was Aldi and oh my gosh, I love Aldi! They have some really cool food items and I also love their ‘Aldi Finds’ that change weekly. When I saw that their Fall decor was out at an affordable price I knew I had to stop by!
I got these outdoor mats for $6.99 each and the table scarecrows for $5.99. You know I had to get two in honor of my twin girls!
I also got this reversible fall sign for $3.99.
I actually went back to Aldi a few days later and got 2 more reversible signs because I couldn’t resist and they were such a great price.
Total Spent at Aldi: $47.55
My last and final stop was at Target. I went there specifically looking for a lazy susan for our dining table and I also planned to peruse the dollar spot while I was there. Because you have to look through the dollar spot when you go to Target right? I was successful in finding an inexpensive lazy susan but the dollar spot was pretty picked over. I guess I’m late to the Fall decorating game. I did manage to find a cute reversible pillow for $5 so I picked that up.
Total Spent at Target: $18.40
After it was all said and done, I spent $77.86 on Fall decor this year. There are definitely some areas in our house I’d like to decorate in the future, such as our mantle and the counter tops in the kitchen. But those will have to wait. Overall, I am really happy with how these inexpensive Fall decorations have spruced up our house! And I’m even happier that I didn’t break the bank to bring a touch of the Fall season to our home. A lot of the decor I got can be repurposed for Thanksgiving as well. I plan to turn around the reversible signs and swap out the ‘Happy Fall Y’all’ mat for the ‘Thankful’ mat. So I’ll get even more bang for my buck!
Below are a few more pictures of the decor I got!
