Happy Wednesday!
I mentioned a few weeks ago in THIS post about our dining room makeover that we had lots of projects in the works around here. I’m happy to report that we have crossed most all of those projects off our to-do list. Just in time for the twins’ arrival!
I will be sharing a few of those projects over the next couple weeks and today I am going to focus on our new guest bedroom.
If you remember from our house tour a few years ago (read that post HERE) we had an entire spare bedroom dedicated to guests. And that worked out great for awhile.
When Chris and I found out we would be welcoming twins to our family, we decided that the guest room would become the nursery because it is the biggest spare bedroom. Two babies means two cribs, plus other furniture and baby items. We knew we would need all the space we could get. Then the challenge became, how do we make sure we have a space for guests without losing either of our other two spare bedrooms. We love our office and use that space almost daily but we also love our home gym/media room. I’m not working out at the moment because I’m on light activity, but Chris is using that room very regularly for workouts.
In the end we decided to convert our home gym into a guest bedroom/gym combination. We sold our two seater couch on Facebook and got a daybed from family members that were no longer using it. It’s been a great solution for us! There is still enough space for us to work out and when visitors are in town, we have a guest space for them. There is even a trundle bed under the daybed that we can roll out to give even more sleep space. It has worked great so far!
Here is what our home gym/media room looked like before:
Here is what is looks like now:
Overall, this “makeover” did not require too much effort. It was more about creatively planning the space to work for our purposes. We kept the travel theme in the room because I really love our travel gallery wall and all of our travel pieces. We bought a daybed cover and sheets. But that was pretty much it. Over time, we will probably make a few additional changes but for now this is working out perfectly for us.
I’m so glad we got it done in just time for the girls’ arrival!
Stay tuned for more house project updates over the next few weeks. We finished up the nursery, as well as the girls’ playroom, so I will be posting about those in the near future. We are just so excited for them to be here!
What additional changes should we make to our guest bedroom? Any ideas?
