Happy Friday!
And happy Friday before Christmas! I can’t believe the holidays are here, time has been flying by. I can’t keep up! I meant to write this post earlier and have it go live this morning, but well, life happened… I’ll explain more about that in a little bit.
I decided to start a series called Fitness Friday. I posted a few weeks ago that I was restarting my fitness journey and I would be sharing about my journey to hold myself accountable. Something about making your intentions public adds a little extra motivation right? It does for me at least. So here are my intentions:
- Work out regularly (5-6 times a week)
- Eat clean 80% of the time
- Continue my fitness journey into 2018 despite any setbacks so I can feel great about my body my 30th year of life (Yes, I am turning the big 3-0 in a few weeks!)
I have to say, I been doing pretty well the last few weeks, especially considering that it is the holidays after all. It’s not necessarily the most ideal time to restart a fitness journey, but it can definitely be done! Especially when you have the kind of support I have. I don’t think it’s any secret I am a big Beachbody fan. I’ve mentioned it a few times on my blog and I’m sure most people have heard about the company and some of the fitness programs, like 21 Day Fix. But what you might not know is that when you buy a program, it comes with support from a coach and access to challenge groups. These groups are mostly run on Facebook, but sometimes on an App, and they are a great way to connect with other like-minded people going through the same journey you are! I recently became a part of a new team and it has been amazing. We send messages most every day, sometimes talking about workouts and sometimes just encouraging each other. It is that extra support that I attribute to being successful so far in my restarted fitness journey.
Along with an amazing support system, I have also been extra motivated because my favorite trainer, Autumn Calabrese, is releasing a new workout program in January called 80 Day Obsession! Chris laughs at me and says I have a girl crush on Autumn, which is probably true, but I just love her programs. I have seen great results from them and I like the motivation she provides. In fact, I got to be a on a team call with her earlier in the week and it was the highlight of my week.
Us Beachbody on Demand members are even getting a sneak peak of the program, with a mini-program called A Little Obsessed. It launched this week and I have been doing the workouts every day.
They have been awesome! Challenging to say the least, but truly awesome. I even had to buy some new equipment to complete the workouts. I was so excited when this box arrived earlier in the week.
It contained sliders and loops, both of which are new to me. I had not used them before this week. They definitely add a degree of difficulty, that’s for sure. But it is totally do-able!
I started out the week with Day 1: Total Body Core and Day 2: Booty.
I am typically an early morning workout person (5:00 or 5:30 morning) but today that just did not happen. Chris has been coming down with some kind of a sickness all week and that is not good news for a transplant patient. He is on immuno-suppressants to keep his body from rejecting his new kidney. Although they are doing their job amazingly, it means his immune system is down and it’s much easier for him to get sick. It can also turn very serious very fast if he does get sick. We have been keeping a close eye on him throughout the week and been in touch with our doctors, so last night when Chris spiked a low grade fever, we knew it needed to be checked out. We headed to the ER at 3:30 in the morning after being awake most of the night. The good news is Chris does not have the flu and his kidney numbers are still stable. It appears to be a virus of some sort. We were both very relieved to hear that and shortly after updating us, the ER team sent us home with orders for lots of rest and fluids. Great way to start the Christmas weekend, right?
I think I have a pretty good excuse for not working out today, but guess what? I put on my workout clothes and pushed play, because that’s how motivated I am feeling right now. Even though I am running on 1-2 hours of sleep, I knew a workout would perk me right up, and it did!
Autumn’s AAA (Arms, Abs, and A**) workout was no joke. I can already feel the soreness from that one. I love it!
Overall, this has been a really successful week in fitness for me. I have worked out every day, I’m loving Autumn’s sneak peak program, and I have eaten clean about 70% I would say. Which I am ok with considering there have been lots of treats and goodies finding their way to me right now.
I’m heading into the holiday weekend feeling really good about where I’m at in my journey and I am determined to keep this momentum going through the holidays and into 2018!
