Happy 2018!!
Wow, how it already the new year? I feel like we were just ringing in 2017, then I blinked, and the year was over. It seriously flew by.
I meant to write this post last week, but I got sick unfortunately. Remember in my last post how I said Chris was sick. Well… guess who got sick after that? Yup, me. Luckily I am feeling much better now and I am ready to tackle the new year! I have lots of goals which I will post about soon. But in the meantime, I wanted to take a look back at 2017.
The big focus was Chris’ health. I remember when we rang in 2017 , Chris and I said to each other “This is going to be a year of good health”. He was going through Chemotherapy at the time and we were anxious for healthier days. The year didn’t go quite as we expected but it did turn out to be the year of good health we hoped it would be and we ended it on a positive note. So, today I am recapping 2017 and looking back on everything the year held for us.
January
I turned 29 and embarked on my last year in my 20s!
February
We received the news that Chris needed a kidney transplant. We hoped so much that the chemotherapy would put his IgaN into remission but ultimately it did not. I took this picture on the day we got the news.
March
Our friends Kaitlyn and James came to town with their baby Desi!
I got my wisdom teeth out. No pictures from that because I spent a lot of time on the couch that weekend.
We went to a Stars game with our friends Micah and Megan! “Not in these jaws”
April
I convinced Chris to take bluebonnet picture. Texas tradition!
May
Our sweet God-daughter Olivia was baptized!
Chris and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary!
June
We celebrated Chris’ 30th birthday!
July
We celebrated the 4th of July
I started this blog! You can read my first post HERE.
August
We celebrated Olivia’s 1st birthday!
We celebrated our niece and God-daughter, Peyton’s first birthday!
We got the amazing news that Chris’ brother Justin was a match and planned to donate his kidney to his brother
September
Justin gave Chris the amazing gift of a kidney. There are no words to express how I felt on September 22nd as they underwent surgery. You can ready my post-surgery update HERE.
October
We mostly stayed home this month while Chris recovered from kidney transplant surgery. We did have a setback but luckily the doctors caught it early.
We booked a bucket list trip! Any guesses where we’re going?
November
December
I re-started my fitness journey!
We celebrated Christmas!
2017 was a roller coaster, full of ups and downs. But in the end, it was a good year for us and it turned out to be the year of health we had hoped it would be. Not quite in the way I expected, but Chris is healthy and we are thankful!
