Hello and Happy Monday!
I mentioned in my last post that I have been feeling kind of “blah” lately so that has been the reason for the quietness on my blog. But I am back to being in good spirits, so I figured I would do a bit of a catch up post today! Warning: This is going to be random. But it will be fun!
I’m happy to report that Chris and Justin are still doing well! We went on a double date a few weeks ago and that was lots of fun.
The dogs are doing well too. Lyssa has been sweet like always and Levi continues to be mischievous.
I am slowly, but surely getting into the Christmas spirit. Which is a good thing considering Christmas is a week away! How did that happen by the way? I feel like time is flying. I made Christmas gifts for my coworkers and our neighbors last weekend by following THIS recipe for Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels. I put them in mason jars with Christmas ribbon and I think they turned out super cute!
A fire always makes it feel like the holiday season right? I worked late one night last week and came home to this. My hubby is the best!
Last weekend my mom was in town and we went to a Sip n Shop event. It was so much fun!
We did more than drink wine, we did some shopping too and found a few really cool things. Like this bar sign that is now hanging in our dining room!
It inspired me to make a list of all of the house projects on our to-do list. And there are plenty! I mentioned a month or so ago that Chris and I have been budgeting for the last year and it has been super helpful. We’ve decided to budget a monthly allowance for house projects so we can slowly but surely check a few things off the list.
I crossed a few out by hanging the bar decoration and some matching metal prints in our workout room.
Even though there have been lots of distractions, I’m proud to report I have managed to stay mostly on track with my fitness journey. That is quite a feat during the holidays. I have worked out 6 days a week, which sounds like a lot, but it’s super convenient since I do at-home workouts with my Beachbody on Demand subscription. I stream all of the workouts and I can get a great sweat session in from the comfort on my own home.
Speaking of working out, we finally bit the bullet and bought a weight rack for Chris’ weights. They have been sitting on the floor for two years I think and they finally have a home!
I tried an amazing dinner last week: Smoked Sausage and Apple Sheet Pan Dinner. Seriously, make this right now! It is so easy and so delicious! I wish I had taken a picture but we ate it before I could. Oh well, I’ll take one next time. Because I will definitely be making this again.
And I discovered an easy, healthy snack when I was meal prepping over the weekend: homemade trail mix.
I bought the ingredients at Aldi which is one of my new favorite stores. They have such great prices for healthy food! I combined the nuts, apricots, and fruit medley into portioned snacks that I can quickly grab and take to work with me.
And we wrapped up the last night of our weekend in a perfect fashion with wine and a fire. We can’t be healthy 100% of the time, right? All things in moderation!
Well, you guys should be all caught up now! I hope you enjoyed this random update. I’m officially ready to head into the week before Christmas. Here’s to hoping it goes by fast! I am ready to celebrate the holidays!
