Happy Monday!
After being a little M.IA. on the blog for a few weeks, I’m back! I have been totally out of my routine since Chris’ surgery. We stayed at the hospital for 5 days then went home then went back to the hospital last weekend. It’s been a whirlwind. Things seem to be stabilizing so I’m planning to get back to my regular posting schedule.
I am a total jeans and t-shirt girl and I have a very casual style. You will rarely see me dressed up unless there is an occasion. Even though I am very laid-back, the past few weeks I have been extra laid-back. Borderline frumpy even. We are homebound for the time being (except for our trips to the doctor) while Chris recovers from his transplant and I have been using that as my excuse for why I’m not put together. My hair has been in a ponytail every day, I haven’t worn makeup, and I’m living in t-shirts and sweatshirts. Even though I’m very casual, it was getting to be a bit much and I decided I should get myself together. Enter: Stitch Fix.
I have been curious about Stitch Fix for a long time and I’ve heard great things about it from family and friends. While I was laying on my oh-so-comfortable hospital bed during our last stay, I decided that was as good a time as any to bite the bullet and order my first Stitch Fix box. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s basically a personal styling service. You fill out a style profile when you sign up which asks for your proportions and sizes. It also asks what styles you prefer and even gives a few pictures as examples that you can rate. You can specify your price point and add notes to your stylist. This all helps to give them a good idea of pieces you will hopefully like. After that you select the date you want your fix to arrive and you’re done!
Almost. You do have to enter payment information. You pay a $20 styling fee upfront before your Fix is delivered. After that, you only pay for any pieces you decide to keep. You will receive 5 pieces in your delivery. If you keep any of the pieces, your $20 styling fee is credited towards your purchase. If you decide to keep all 5 pieces, you receive a 25% discount off the total. Your box will come with a pre-paid shipping envelope and anything you’re not keeping, you just put in the envelope and send it back. Easy peasy.
I filled out my style profile, added a note to my stylist that I wanted pieces for fall, and I was so excited when my box arrived a week later. Talk about speedy!
My Stitch Fix box came with 2 sweaters, a blouse, jeans, and booties. I was super excited! A personal note from my stylist was also included along with ideas for how to style each piece. For someone like me that is not at all a fashionista, it was very helpful to have picture ideas of how to pair each piece.
Now onto the fun part… These are the items that came in my fix:
DV8 Chyro Zip Bootie
Booties are something I didn’t think I could pull off. But I was pleasantly surprised with how this pair looked and fit. They are super cute!
Pink Clover Aina Pullover
I love the color and cutout detail of this sweater. It looks so cute and comfy.
Honey Punch Novah Elbow Patch Textured Cardigan
I loved this sweater from the moment I pulled it out of the box. It is so soft! Like, ridiculously soft. I also love the gray color and the elbow patches are a really cool surprise.
Daniel Rainn Dalina Crochet Detail Knit Top
This shirt is right up my alley. I absolutely love the detailing on the front and back of the shirt. So pretty!
Pistola Brennan Bootcut Jean
I love the dark wash and boot cut of these jeans. They look exactly like a pair of jeans I would have picked out myself if I had gone shopping.
I was very impressed with the items in my Stitch Fix when I pulled them out of the box but the true test is always in trying on clothing. You just never know how things are going to fit, especially if you have curves like me. I have a hard time finding clothes that fit properly. I am happy to say that, surprisingly, all of my items fit! I was shocked.
You may or may not be surprised to learn that I decided to keep all 5 items. I very rarely treat myself and go shopping for clothes, so I decided to make an exception. I truly loved all of the pieces and I know I will get a ton of use out of them, especially heading into fall. And I got a 25% discount for purchasing all 5 items, so I got a deal! That justifies it right?
I have to say, I was super impressed with my first Stitch Fix experience. If you are someone that needs to treat yourself every once in awhile, this is a good way to do that. If you want to try it out for yourself, you can follow THIS LINK. Full disclosure, I will receive a credit towards my account if you use that link. But if this is something you’ve been considering trying, I think it’s definitely worth it.
Have you tried Stitch Fix? What did you think of the items I received in my first box?
