Happy Tuesday!
This post is very delayed. I meant to write it months ago, but between being very sick during my twin pregnancy and the holidays, I have gotten a little behind. Oops!
Back in October, Chris and I went on a family cruise to the Bahamas! Chris’ step brother got married on a cruise ship in the port of Charleston and afterward the whole family sailed to the Bahamas. It was a blast! We really enjoyed our 5-day cruise to Princess Cays and Nassau on the Carnival Inspiration. If you are going on a similar trip anytime soon, I hope you find this recap helpful!
We sailed out of port Saturday afternoon after the wedding and our only plans that evening were to enjoy the view and have dinner with the family in the dining room.
Sunday was our first full day at sea and we used that time to explore the ship and relax. I also took several naps. This trip was when I was 9 weeks pregnant so I was very sick and tired and I spent a lot of time in our room relaxing.
Princess Cays
Monday our ship docked in Princess Cays, Bahamas! This port is Carnival’s private island and we had to take a tender boat to shore. It was a cloudy day which was actually nice because it wasn’t too hot. We enjoyed some time on the beach and swam in the ocean. I can’t remember the last time I went swimming and it was so relaxing!
Nassau
Tuesday, we were in port all day in Nassau and Chris and I spent the majority of the day together just the two of us. We visited the Straw Market for a quick minute and then decided to take a water ferry to Paradise Island where the famous Atlantis resort is. After we got there, we bought tickets to the Aquarium and enjoyed wandering through. This is also where we opened our gender reveal envelope and found out that we are expecting two GIRLS! If you missed that post, you can read it HERE.
Wednesday was our last full day at sea and it was a rough one. Our ship was hurrying back to Charleston so we could get into the port before Hurricane Michael came through. We were supposed to dock early Thursday morning but because of the hurricane we were planning to dock late Wednesday night and it seemed like the ship was going at full speed.
Chris and I had scheduled a ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour for that day where we got to see the crew quarters, galley, engine room, and the bridge, among other places. We really enjoyed it! We weren’t allowed to take cell phones so I don’t have any pictures but it was cool to see what goes on behind the scenes!
Our tour finished up around lunchtime and I spent the rest of the day in bed because the rough seas were making me even more sick than I already was. I mustered up enough energy to enjoy our last dinner with the family that night and then I went back to bed.
We docked in Charleston late that night and got off the ship early Thursday morning.
Overall, it was a great trip! I wish I had felt better, but I made the best of it. And it was great spending time with the whole family. I don’t think all 10 of us have spent a week together and it was so much fun! We have great memories from a fun trip with family!
