Happy Friday!
Two weeks ago Chris and I celebrated our baby girls with our closest friends at a couples baby shower. Several months ago the idea of a baby shower came up and it presented a few challenges for us. Chris and I have family spread out all over the country and we didn’t necessarily want to have a baby shower that required everyone to travel to Dallas where we live. It seemed kind of unnecessary to ask people to travel twice when we know everyone will be traveling here in April to meet the babies and help us adjust to life as new parents. So we nixed the idea of a baby shower at that point. Shortly after that, my best friend Amanda at Ashmead Adventures, offered to throw us a couples baby shower with our friends so we could still celebrate the girls and Chris and I thought that was a great idea! My sister, Tiffany, jumped on board and the two of them planned an amazing afternoon for me, Chris, and our girls.
I want to recap the shower for my own memories, but I also think this is a good solution for anyone who may not be planning to have a big shower like me and Chris. It was a great compromise and still allowed us to celebrate our girls and feel how loved we are! If you’re interested in all of the details, keep reading!
My only request for our shower was that it be a low-key, laid back gathering. I didn’t want anyone to be stressed out about throwing a big event and I really just wanted to enjoy time with our closest friends. And that’s exactly how the afternoon went!
We had a delicious barbecue spread from Railhead Smokehouse.
There were also desserts, which made this pregnant lady very happy!
I’m not really into shower games, so Amanda and Tiffany set up a onesie making station and a bow making station and they were so much fun! Everyone got into making onesies and bows, and even the guys made bows. I was impressed with their skills.
Before we all parted ways, I had to take pictures with everyone. These people are SO special to us and I am so thankful to have each and every one of them in our life.
Last but not least, my babies’ daddy! I can’t wait to go on this adventure with you!
Our couples baby shower reminded me how much love we are surrounded by and how our girls will be surrounded by that same love. There are many people waiting for their arrival and I can’t wait to introduce them to all of these wonderful people. I truly feel very fortunate and I will never take for granted the miracle of our babies and the love that surrounds our family.
