Happy Tuesday!
Chris and I got back last week from an Alaskan cruise we took to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary! We had the best time! Our first two years of marriage were nothing like we expected, so after Chris’ kidney transplant, we decided to book a splurge vacation off our travel bucket list. And I’m so glad we did! We loved Alaska and I will be sharing all of the details from our trip over the next few weeks.
Our ship left out of Seattle so today’s post is focused on our time in the city before and after the cruise. Chris and I flew up early, so we had about two days in Seattle total and we made the most of it!
Our flight from Dallas arrived in Seattle around noon and we took the Light Rail to a stop a few blocks away from our hotel. It was $3/person and very easy to navigate. We stayed at the Belltown Inn and had a really great experience there. The staff was super helpful and friendly and there is even a rooftop deck.
The hotel is also within walking distance of several restaurants and tourist spots. We were starving, so the first thing we did was walk to a nearby restaurant and have a late lunch. After that we headed over to the Space Needle, because you have to check it out when you’re in Seattle right? It was about a 10 minute walk from where we were staying, and since we were there on a Monday, we didn’t have to wait in line and went straight up to the observation deck.
The Space Needle was under construction while we were there, but we still enjoyed ourselves and got to see some beautiful views of the city. Afterward, we went to the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum and it was SO cool!
Later that evening we met up with some friends who were visiting Seattle at the same time as us. It was so fun to catch up!
The next morning, Chris and I took a food tour of Pike Place Market before we boarded our ship and headed to Alaska. I booked our tour through Savor Seattle a few months before the trip because I had read a lot of amazing reviews and it sounded like so much fun! I also knew it would be a great way to see Pike Place Market in the amount of time we had before we got on the boat. Chris and I had a great time and we really loved the market. We especially loved trying some amazing food!
These are only a few of the items we sampled. You’ll have to book a tour with Savor Seattle to see the rest!
After our food tour, we grabbed our bags and headed to the pier to board our ship! Once onboard, we went to our room and waved goodbye to Seattle!
Exactly 7 days later we were back in Seattle after an incredible trip to Alaska and Canada. We had a few hours before our flight home to Dallas, so Chris and I decided to walk around the harbor and Pike Place Market again. Can you tell we loved the area down there?
Seattle is a really cool city and I’m so glad we got to experience it for a few days before and after our cruise. Chris and I both agreed that we will have to make a weekend trip up there in the future so we can explore some more! If you’re thinking of going to Seattle, definitely go. We loved it!

This is great. I’ve actually been looking at jobs in Seattle, so I love seeing travel posts about the city (:
