How has the 4th of July already come and gone? It’s been almost a week since the holiday. Time is flying!
Someone went around in our neighborhood a few days beforehand and put flags in everyone’s yards. I love it! I wish I had taken a picture. I am proud to be an American every day and thankful to live in this country, but something about the 4th of July and seeing flags everywhere really makes me extra proud.
We recently put a flag up and it makes me happy.
We had a nice, low key 4th of July. Chris and I hung out around the house in the morning but then I started going a little stir crazy. Around noon I decided I wanted to get out of the house, so we loaded up the dogs and went for a drive. We had the windows down and it was a beautiful, sunny day. Perfect driving weather. I’m not sure how long we were gone or exactly where we went, we just drove around and enjoyed the scenery and eventually went home.
Chris’ brother and his girlfriend live 2 miles away from us, which is super convenient. We love having them so close by. They came over in the afternoon and we all hung out and ate and chatted. We had some appetizers and then I made tacos, which is what you would expect to have on a BBQ holiday, right? Of course. I also insisted that Chris and I take a family picture with our dogs, because you can never have too many family pictures, right? The dogs weren’t that into it…
Chris’ brother had bought a lot of fireworks but it’s not legal to shoot them off within city limits where we live. So we ended up going to our neighbors’ in-law’s house to shoot off fireworks. They live outside the city limits and they had a ton of fireworks themselves so we were happy to join in on the fun.
We shot off fireworks for two hours or so and had a blast. There’s nothing like the 4th of July and fireworks to make you feel like a kid again.
Hope you all had a great holiday!
