Sadly, this will be the last recap of our Alaskan cruise. I guess it couldn’t last forever, right? I will be back to my regularly scheduled blogging next week.
Until then, today’s blog post will be focused on the short amount of time we spent in Victoria, Canada!
This was the last day of our cruise and we spent the majority of the day at sea sailing through the Inside Passage headed to Canada.
Chris and I sat on the top deck at the back of the ship most of the day and loved every second of it.
We saw so many whales, it was amazing! *Side note: If you take an Alaskan cruise, there is a naturalist onboard that will announce when wildlife is spotted and where it is. Throughout our cruise we saw whales, porpoises, seals, and otters while we were at sea. On this day, we saw an incredible amount of humpback whales. At one point the naturalist said “we are surrounded by humpback whales on all sides of the ship.” Some were jumping out of the water and breaching. It was truly amazing. Chris and I were in awe! One of the biggest perks of an Alaskan cruise is all of the wildlife you see.
We stayed on the top deck for several hours, most of the day honestly. It was so relaxing and a perfect way to spend the last day of our cruise.
Around 7pm, our ship pulled into Victoria, Canada.
Chris and I got off the ship and followed the signs to Fisherman’s Wharf. It was a really beautiful area, especially at sunset.
I thought this sign was entertaining.
Most of the eateries were closed because it was a holiday: Victoria Day!
So, we continued walking to Downtown Victoria. It was about 1.5 miles from where our ship docked, so it wasn’t too far. We passed by the Parliament Building and The Empress, a famous hotel.
Eventually we stumbled across a restaurant that looked good, so we stopped there for dinner and drinks. Darcy’s Pub was great! The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the flight of beers we got.
Since we only had a few hours in Victoria, Chris and I headed back to the dock after we finished eating. It was dark by then and the city was beautiful.
Our Alaskan cruise was truly an amazing vacation. It was on our travel bucket list and it did not disappoint. I am so glad Chris and I decided back in October to book this trip. It was just what we needed! We celebrated our anniversary and we are very much looking forward to the future!
