Hello and Happy Tuesday!
If you came to my blog to read more about our Alaskan cruise vacation, you are in luck! I’m continuing with recaps and today I will be sharing all about our time in Ketchikan!
This was our shortest day in port. We only had about 5 hours in Ketchikan and that was if you got off the ship right at 7 am when it docked, which we didn’t. It was our two year anniversary, so Chris and I slept in a little bit before hitting the town. After we got off the ship, we went to the visitor center to pick up a map of Ketchikan. It included a self guided walking tour, which we partially followed as we explored the town.
Our plan was to head toward Creek Street, the historic red light district, but we got distracted and walked Married Man’s Trail first. It was beautiful!
After awhile we headed back down to town and resumed our walk to Creek Street. Chris and I both loved it! It was such a cute area of town and we had a lot of fun wandering in and out of the shops and seeing all of the cool local Alaskan products.
By this time, we were hungry for lunch, so we headed to the Alaskan Fish House because I had read rave reviews about it when I was researching Ketchikan. It was even on the list of Top 12 Seafood Restaurants in Alaska.
Sadly… this was a big disappointment. I don’t know if they were having a bad day, but our food was not very good. Chris’ crab legs were overcooked. My fish and chips was overcooked too and to be honest, I’m not even sure I got the meal I ordered. It was disappointing. If you are in Ketchikan and decide to go there, I hope your experience is better than ours!
After eating an early lunch, we headed back to our ship a little after noon. We were scheduled to sail out of Ketchikan at 1pm and Chris and I like to board a little early. We wandered back to the dock, got onboard, and waved goodbye to the town from our balcony room.
With half of the day left, Chris and I relaxed and took a nap. Then later that night we went to the Steakhouse on board the ship to celebrate our anniversary but sadly I didn’t take any pictures! We had a great time reminiscing all about our trip so far and the fun we had in Seattle, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, and Ketchikan. It was a great dinner and a perfect end to our anniversary!
The next day was our final port of call: Victoria, Canada! Stay tuned later in the week to read all about it!
Have you been to Ketchikan? Can you recommend a better restaurant for anyone who may be traveling there?
