Happy Tuesday!
Today, I am continuing my recaps of our Alaskan Cruise. When I last left off we had departed Juneau headed for Skagway!
Our ship docked in Skagway early in the morning, around 7am. Chris and I woke up, ate a leisurely breakfast, and got off the ship around 8:30.
We were just in time to meet up with our tour group, Frontier Excursions, for a tour of the Yukon. I booked this tour through Viator.com and you can read about our experience with Viator HERE. Our tour of the Yukon was great! Frontier Excursions was a great tour company and our guide was awesome! It was an all day tour so we had plenty of time to stop and enjoy all of the breathtaking scenery along the way.
These are some of the beautiful sights we saw:
Pitchfork Falls
White Pass Summit
Lake Tutshi
Yukon Sign
Bove Island
Carcross Desert
We stopped at Caribou Crossings in Canada for lunch. It was such a cute trading post! There was food, ice cream, a museum, gift shop, petting zoo, and sled dogs. We loved it!
We ate first, because that’s what Chris and I do. We like to eat a lot when we travel. We even got to enjoy our lunch in a chuck wagon with a view of the Yukon.
Afterward, we visited the museum, where Chris had to see how he sized up against this guy.
And then… we played with sled dog puppies!
It was a really great lunch stop and we enjoyed stretching our legs for a bit. After lunch, we took a short 10-minute ride to this beautiful place…
Emerald Lake!
For the record, I have not edited this picture. Isn’t it stunning? (Note: I didn’t edit any pictures in this post. Alaska is just THAT beautiful!)
After that we headed back to Skagway, but not before making one more pit stop in a town called Carcross. We got our passports stamped and enjoyed some time at the beach.
Our tour arrived back in Skagway in plenty of time for Chris and I to explore the town. All of the buildings in downtown Skagway are original to the gold rush period and we loved it. We stopped at Skagway Brewing Company and hung out for a few hours. The food was delicious and the beer was on point.
After that we walked through town and stopped in a few shops, before landing at The Red Onion. This is a famous brothel turned bar and we wanted to check it out.
Eventually we wrapped up our time in Skagway and headed back to the ship. Chris and I walk everywhere we can when we’re on vacation and this trip was no exception. The views on our way back to the dock were beautiful.
If you can believe it, the views sailing out of Skagway were even more stunning!
Chris and I had an amazing day in Skagway! This was one of our favorite stops on our Alaskan cruise and I truly hope we will be back someday!
Stay tuned for a recap of our time in Glacier Bay later this week!
Have you been to Skagway? What did you do there?

This looks beautiful! I cannot wait to go on my next cruise. 😀 Idk if it’ll be to Alaska though, but I will definitely put that on my bucket list!
