My husband, Chris, turned 30 a few weeks ago and I can’t believe it! I remember when we first met (read our story here) 30 seemed like light years away. But somehow time has passed and here we are! Since 30 is such a big birthday, I wanted to plan a fun outing to celebrate. I tossed around a few ideas and eventually decided an Escape Room would be perfect! Have y’all been to an Escape Room or heard of one? The whole idea is that your group gets “locked” in a room and you have an hour to solve various clues and puzzles that will lead to your escape. (Note: We learned that in the state of Texas it is considered kidnapping to lock people in a room, so we weren’t actually locked in. FYI in case anyone in your group is claustrophobic, they can leave easily).
I had never been to an Escape Room before but it turned out to be a blast! We went to Ultimate Escape Game Dallas and our room was named “Dallas” so our whole experience was Dallas themed. The success rate for that room was 35% and we managed to escape with 12 minutes to spare! We were pretty proud of ourselves. Although I’m not quite sure we deserved to be. With a group of 13 people, we were bound to escape right? Especially since we were all running around in different directions and multiple people were working on multiple clues at the same time. Small detail. And we were allowed to ask our moderator, who was in a control room, for 3 clues. The fact that we only used 2 clues is impressive right? Nonetheless, we escaped and we were very proud!
After we escaped the “Dallas” room we got to sign our names on the wall, which was cool. That makes us famous, right? We also got to have our picture taken with a lot of fun props as you can see above. And the birthday boy had a great time, which is the most important part!
If you’ve never been to an Escape Room, you should definitely check one out!
